Selecting Measures for PQRS

When selecting measures for reporting, consider the following:

  • Clinical conditions you treat most often
  • Type of care that you typically provide, such as preventive, chronic, or acute
  • The setting in which you usually deliver care, such an office, emergency department, or surgical suite
  • Quality improvement goals you have planned for the reporting year
  • Additional quality reporting programs that you are using or considering

New in 2015

New Measures Added: 23 measures for individual and measures groups reporting were added. 2 new measures groups were added and will be available for PQRS reporting beginning in 2015: sinusitis and otitis (AOE).

Measures Removed from PQRS: 50 measures will be removed, 38 of which are within a measures group. 4 measures groups are to be removed including Back Pain Measures group.The 2014 measures include 57 new individual measures and 2 new measures groups that were added to fill existing gaps.

Measure Updates: The 6-month reporting option for measure groups has been removed.
