The Spine Intervention Society joins with 96 medical associations in urging the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration (VHA) to continue supporting team-based care that makes the most of the respective education and training of physicians and advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs) as part of a collaborative framework.

Under a rule proposed on May 25, 2016 (RIN 2900–AP44-Advanced Practice Registered Nurses) APRNs would be granted full practice authority, supplanting rules in 28 U.S. states that require nurse practitioners to collaborate with or be supervised by physicians. Read the comment letter.
