The Spine Intervention Society was represented by Drs. Scott Horn and Luis Guerrero at the AMA CPT Editorial Panel Meeting meeting on May 12-14, 2016. The CPT Editorial Panel is in charge of the development and revisions of Current Procedural Terminology procedure codes. SIS staff attended the AMA Relative Value Update Committee (RUC) on April 27-May 1, 2016. RUC is an advisory body to CMS and reviews medical procedures to provide value recommendations.  Several coding proposals of importance to Society members were discussed at the meeting.

The Spine Intervention Society assures physician volunteer and staff representation at both the RUC and CPT Editorial Panel meetings and active participation in all their respective processes in order to provide input and justification for proper values and coding when issues that affect spine interventions are discussed.
