The House of Representatives, on September 28th, passed H.R. 3204, the "Drug Quality and Security Act.”  The bill establishes new FDA regulatory oversight for those who compound sterile drugs, while attempting to preserve the compounding practice.  It also addresses issues with the prescription drug supply chain in order to protect Americans from counterfeit drugs.  The legislation is an important step to help prevent future public health crises, such as the meningitis outbreak of 2012. The Senate is expected to take up the legislation soon.
