The International Spine Intervention Society was represented by Drs. Christopher Merifield and Joshua Levin at the AMA Relative Value Committee (RUC) meeting on April 22-25. The RUC is an advisory body to CMS that reviews medical procedures and provides Relative Value Unit (RVU) recommendations to CMS.

Dr. Scott Horn represented the Society at the CPT Editorial Panel meeting on May 14-16. President-elect Dr. John MacVicar also attended the meeting to observe CPT proceedings. Several coding proposals of importance to Society members were discussed at the meeting.

The International Spine Intervention Society assures physician volunteer and staff representation at both the RUC and CPT Editorial Panel meetings and active participation in all their respective processes in order to provide input and justification for proper values and coding when issues that affect spine interventions are discussed.
