Dr. Way Yin, ISIS President, recognizing that it is extremely important to cultivate multi-specialty and multi-society collaboration, organized an Interventional Spine Leadership Summit, bringing together the leaders of interventional spine medical societies, who have been working collaboratively on addressing challenges facing the interventional spine field.
Any area where a consensus can be reached is worth exploring, as a collective voice for the field is much stronger when advocating for quality interventional spine care to the payors, regulators and legislators. The summit was attended by the leaders from the American Society of Anesthesiology (ASA); American Society of Regional Anesthesia (ASRA); American Academy of Pain Medicine (AAPM); American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (AAPM&R); American Society of Spine Radiology (ASSR) and the North American Spine Society (NASS).
It is clear that we can anticipate numerous future challenges for patient access to quality spine care at the national and regional levels, and it will be of great benefit for our patients to be proactive in formulating plans to respond to these challenges. ISIS and the other organizations who attended the Summit continue to work together on numerous projects which will benefit greatly from having a multi-stakeholder support.
