The Future of Spine Intervention, this year’s theme, is designed to enhance the knowledge and clinical competence of physicians and allied health professionals who care for patients with spine pain. The major highlights of the meeting will be sessions addressing safe injection practices; lessons learned from the recent meningitis outbreak; image guidance, with a specific focus on ultrasound-guided spine intervention; pain mechanisms, including the role of central sensitization for persistent pain; scope of practice for various minimally invasive spine procedures such as endoscopic disc decompression and MILD® procedures; updated evidence for cervical transforaminal epidural steroid injections; latest advancements in spinal cord stimulation therapy; and research presentations.

Target Audience

This live activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of physicians and allied health professionals who are involved in the care of patients with spine pain.

Educational Objectives

Upon completion of this activity participants should be able to:

· Identify best practice to ensure patient safety during interventional spine procedures

· Practice the principles, and discuss the positive and negative aspects of various image guidance technologies including the role of ultrasound for spinal injections

· Describe the role that both the peripheral and central nervous system play in the transmission and perception of pain

· Apply new research findings into their evidenced-based practice of ethical interventional spine care

· Define important patient-centered outcome measurements in private practice settings
