6/27 - Particulate FactFinder on Hold Pending Results of New Research on Effectiveness of Non-Particulate Steroids

Posted By Administration, Thursday, June 27, 2013

The Patient Safety Task Force has spent the past three months researching a FactFinder addressing the use of particulate and non-particulate steroids. The FactFinder is being developed in response to many questions and emails from ISIS members seeking guidance on steroid selection. During the course of review, it has come to light that two new studies, which will be presented at the ASM in July, are likely to significantly impact recommendations about the effectiveness and use of particulate and non-particulate steroids for lumbar transforaminal injections. Please be sure to attend the Research Presentations session on Wednesday, July 17th from 11:15-11:45am to learn more from the two principal investigators, Drs. David Kennedy and Christine El-Yahchouchi, and attend the Safe Injection Practices symposium on Thursday, July 18th for a brief review of the evidence. The FactFinder on particulate steroids will include this new research and will be published by the ISIS Patient Safety Task Force this summer.
