HHS Announces ICD-10 Delay

At the AMA National Advocacy Conference, Marilyn Tavenner - the Acting Administrator for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) - responded to concerns about huge administrative burdens related to the implementation of the ICD-10 coding system; and indicated that CMS is willing to reexamine the timeline for implementation of ICD-10. This unofficial statement was later confirmed by the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius who committed to working with the provider community to re-examine the implementation pace.
