CBO Projects 29.4% cuts in 2012

Posted By Administration, Friday, February 3, 2012

According to Congressional Budget Office (CBO) projections, published on June 14, 2011, payment rates for physician services will be reduced by 29.4 percent in 2012, unless Congress acts to prevent the cuts.  Congress has taken action to override the Sustainable Growth Rate (SGR) formula in past years to avoid physician cuts; however, due to lack of permanent solution the SGR is still in effect and the large reductions under this formula loom over physicians who accept Medicare.  To view the full CBO report click here.

ISIS, along with the rest of provider community, strongly supports a permanent fix to the SGR formula to provide stability to the physician payment rates and avoid any future payment disruptions or across the board cuts.
