ISIS CPT and RUC Representative Appointments

Posted By Administration, Wednesday, January 25, 2012

The AMA Board of Trustees has reappointed Dr. Scott Horn to continue serving as the AMA CPT Advisor representing ISIS. Dr. Horn has been working as the CPT Advisor for the last couple of years, attending three meetings per year and assuring that ISIS views are represented whenever CPT codes that are of interest to the ISIS membership are created, revised or discussed. As a CPT Advisor, he also works to provide answers for coding questions from across the country to help assure correct coding practices.

Dr. Christopher Merifield has been appointed to serve as the ISIS Advisor to the AMA/Specialty Society Relative Value Scale Update Committee (the RUC). The RUC is charged with assigning a value (RVUs) to each new CPT code created. Recently, increasing amount of time and resources at the RUC have been spent on reviewing the values of existing codes, to identify and re-value codes that are assumed to be overvalued, making ISIS input more important than ever.

ISIS has been committed to having staff and physician representation at every CPT and RUC meeting to provide input and assure that our member interest is well represented.
