Medicare Payment - Another Temporary Fix

Posted By Administration, Wednesday, January 25, 2012

On April 15, President Obama signed into law H.R. 4851, the Continuing Extension Act of 2010, reinstating Medicare physician payments to where they were on March 31 and again postponing the 21.3% cut that was supposed to take effect in 2010.

This most recent extension of 2009 payment rates will be applied retroactively to any claims submitted between April 1 and April 15, when the cut was temporarily in place and Medicare contractors were holding claims awaiting the passage of the bill.  The extension will continue until June 1, 2010, at which time another Congressional action will be required to avoid the 21.3% cut.

ISIS strongly supports a long-term fix of the SGR Formula to avoid the constant threat of physician Medicare payment cuts.
